約書亞記，是一本充滿神蹟奇事的書，亦因為這樣，是一本令自由派神學家頭痛的書，因為他們不相信(或不著重)神蹟。一位很出名的自由派神學家，在講約書亞記第四章的時候說，這章經文的焦點，不是在神蹟，而是在服從神。聽起上來很有意思，但如果神要以色列人，立石為記，祂就明顯告訴我們，神蹟的重要性。記得神以往在我們身上的作為和神蹟奇事，幫助我們能剛強壯膽。(注意: 末世的神蹟，不再重要，但聖經中的神蹟非重要，因為它們證明行神蹟奇事的人是從神而來，帶給我們從神而來的啟示。但現在因為聖經正典已經關閉, 我們已經有了所有的啟示，就是我們手上的聖經, 所以神蹟在末世不再重要）。
自由派神學家的問題, 就是他們輕看聖經裏面的神蹟和預言。但這些正是神的作為。拿開了神的部份，聖經只剩下人的歷史和作為。就算自由派神學家,解經解得如何動聽，也不是神在經文中原有的意思。弟兄姊妹千萬要小心！
